The Strangelings : when British humour meets the French audience.

"Are you ready for a journey through the world of weirdness ?"

Programmed in La Fête dans ma Ville, as part of ZEPA’s trans-national artistic projects, The Strangelings company, coming straight from the UK with their show The Gaity Engine, arouses curiosity.

From a simple cart , carefully unfolded by performers Dave and Craig, comes out a theatre of the absurd. The man with the hairy head or the wizard too sensitive to bear the pain are two examples of this wide range of characters, all equally crazy.

The show runs smoothly, as the company has been performing it for the last 8 years. For its premiere in France, they translated and interpreted it in French.

On top of the language barrier, there is also the cultural differences to take into consideration."The British audience don’t appreciate the same things as people do in France. The French like surrealism and weirdness », Craig notices.
