The 12th edition of Z’arts Up festival kicks off today, Friday 20th May, and for 3 days, no less than 21 street arts companies are invited to perform in the streets of Béthune and surrounding towns.
A special edition this year : for a start, the festival is part of the wider Béthune Capitale Régionale de la Culture initiative ; also, Culture Commune has developed a large community engagement programme in the Mont-Liébaut area, area used to being the scene of the launch of the festival every year. But the particularity this year is that this outreach programme was led by ZEPA associate Welsh company NoFit State Circus. And the ’cerise sur le gâteau’** is that 8 British street arts and circus companies will be performing in the streets of Béthune and the surrounding villages.
