Hat Fair in Winchester and National Street Arts Creation Centre Le Fourneau in Brest have initiated a partnership between two universities on both sides of the Channel as part of the European network ZEPA, the Master in Performing Arts of the Université de Bretagne Occidentale (Brest) and the Bachelor of Street Arts (Winchester).
This partnership is already in progress as 18 students from Winchester are welcomed from 5th till 9th October in Brest. They are accompanied by Sian Thomas, Artistic Director of Celebrations (Winchester Hat Fair), John Lee, Director of the Bachelor Arts in Winchester, Sally Mann, Associate lecturer (University of Winchester), and were joined by Mathilde Vautier, coordinator of the ZEPA network, Maria Xavier from the Hangar in Amiens, Cynthia Himmesoete, student in Amiens and Aude Pauchet, student of Master’s degree in Brest on a shared work placement between le Fourneau and Hat Fair.

A packed programme for the British students staying in Brittany: presentation and visit of Le Fourneau and University of Brest, meetings with artists from Luc Amoros and Tango Sumo companies, multimedia training, introduction to the history of street arts and the wider cultural context in France. The British students will also attend the shows programmed as part of La Déambule: Luc Amoros’ Page Blanche (creation supported by the ZEPA network) and David Moréno’s Floten Tecles.

On Wednesday, October 6th, 2010, all the partners of this innovative program of university exchange were welcomed at the Université de Bretagne Occidentale for the partnership’s officialisation.
