Welsh company NoFit State Circus officially kicked off their residency in the Mont-Liébaut area in Béthune, as part of the Z’Arts Up! festival.

About 200 people gathered on Saturday 14th May 2011 to share a drink and attend an Open House rehearsal commented by Artistic Director Orit Azaz.

Sharing, discovering and exchanging - this is the motto for this residency, and the open house circus workshops did just that. Open to all and led by artists from the company, these sessions enabled children and grown-ups to discover and practice various disciplines: parkour, hula hoop, monocycle, trapeze, martial arts, gymnastics…there was lots to do for everyone this weekend!

The musicians from the company also met the local community…in their own way, strolling along the Place de la Communication, pleasing residents and passers-by with their tunes.

The company now waits for you to pop in all this week, Place de la Communication, to visit the set, join in the open house workshops or listen to the commented public rehearsals…and obviously see the show Barricade premiered on Friday 20th May at 9.30pm!
