All the versions of this article: [English] [français]

Mardi Gras 2011 will take place on Tuesday 8th March on King Street, Great Yarmouth with celebrations taking place from 4-6pm. Now in its second year, the King Street Mardi Gras will set King Street alive with food, music, performance, international customs and pancake themed activities.

Mardi Gras will be housed in two separate temporary structures along King Street, and will involve local residents, community groups, organisations, businesses and cafes of King Street coming together to celebrate the international festival that is Mardi Gras, Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day.

The event is themed as the struggle of spring vs winter; with masked participants, workshops, a treasure trail, pancake themed challenges and a staged fight of Fatso vs Hempen- a traditional Lithuanian custom where the representations of spring takes on winter in a spectacular not to be missed showdown.
