Bal à Blangy has all the pleasantness and the friendliness of a local community event: people get together for a drink or a barbie, help to clean the tables or check a projector...and all agree that “they’re just awesome, these English lads!”

Programmed by Atelier 231 for the event, British company Strangelings’ show Tandem, first surprised the Blangy audience, then sweetened them up to completely win them over.

«It’s not an easy task to get local people across generations and backgrounds together at the same event here», Bal à Blangy organiser Eric Arnoux confides. But the audience’s enjoyment for Strangelings’ performance confirmed the keen interest for this type of initiatives, bringing a light-hearted break from the economic and social issues experienced by the town.

For Strangelings, it has been another ZEPA experience, discovering a bit more of the ZEPA region and its people. Artistic Director David Bernstein says: “Since the beginning of the year, we have been taking part in the Fish & Chips festival in Sotteville-lès-Rouen, Z’arts Up in Béthune and we’ll be in Amiens for La Fête dans la Ville next weekend. So we do start to have a good insight in the ZEPA world...!”
