Despite the summery weather, Avanti Display brought bad weather to La Couture. Two people, a man and a woman, soaked from heavy rain are in a café, around a cup of tea, supposed to be celebrating an event of some sort. Even the dog takes part, while the waiter tries his best to serve these strange people. The only issue is that the atmosphere is as dull as the British sky can too often be : grey, cold and very wet.
The audience, however, is warming up to the sun, laughing at the characters’ amazing calm despite the pouring rain that runs from under the parasol supposed to protect them. But as soon as the sun arises, it’s party time… the couple goes wild – so does the audience !
2pm : not a soul in the streets of Barlin, one of the other villages involved in Les Z’ailleurs. Collectif AOC, the first company performing this afternoon, draws attention and attracts a good hundred people...soon joined by more, for the 2nd show, by circus artist Pete Sweet , from « from San Francisco, California » as he tells the audience, emphasing his yankee accent.
Assisted by a member of the audience and performing juggling, rope walking and unicycle acts with easiness and humour, and singing on top of it, the artist treated the audience (now quite big !) with a great show.
