In 2009, the project aimed to look at the development of Grand Theatre of Lemmings as a European street arts company and prepare them for a part in ZEPA.
Zap Art now builds on this initial work and deliver training/mentoring through the development and delivery of a small ZEPA funded transnational street arts event in Manningtree. French companies will also be part of this event, alongside engaging with the local community through meetings or talks.
About the Lemmings
Run by two artists and a pool or regular performers, the company has pioneered street-arts and rural touring for twenty-two years, and craved out an international reputation with outdoor performances in twenty-five countries on five continents.
Engaging with communities is also one of their strengths, as well as hosting and supporting local artists in their Manningtree Creative Studios.
And according to the youth steering group they initiated to raise funds and run the Manningtree event, the Beach Bash is likley to be “the best thing to happen in Manningtree in years”
