Merry making at Yarmouth’s first Mardi Gras in pictures

Mardi Gras may conjure up images of exotic locations like Rio De Janeiro and New Orleans, but this month SeaChange Arts brought a little of that magic to Great Yarmouth.

The town’s King Street was transformed into an international quarter in a celebration of Shrove Tuesday and Mardi Gras traditions from around the world.

Despite inclement weather Mardi Gras proved a hit with young and old who turned up to enjoy street bands and performers, workshops and carnival mask parade.

SeaChange’s Joe Mackintosh said: “despite the weather, people have turned out and enjoyed a mix of exciting street performance, international cuisine and hands-on workshops. Its brightened up February and put down a great marker for future events in the town.”
