SYMPOSIUM [sɪmˈpəʊzɪəm] noun (pl. symposia /-zɪə/ or symposiums) A conference or meeting to discuss a particular academic or specialist subject. […] (Oxford English Dictionary)
The ’specialist subject’ is ’Outdoor arts, places and people : transnational artistic projects for our regions’. The « conference or meeting » participants are the nine partners of the ZEPA network, in partnership with their local/regional partners (local authorities, art and cultural organisations, universities, local groups, companies...), with whom they have developed (or will) cross-border outdoor arts projects.
The aim of the ZEPA symposium is to initiate the thinking process around the themes and objectives that could/would feed in to a future ZEPA project. It is also an opportunity for participants to get a broader picture of the ZEPA projects developed since it started in 2008, and for these participants to meet each other.
The ZEPA symposium will be held on Friday 27th May 2011 pm and Saturday 28th May am, at the Brighton Dome Pavilion Theatre in Brighton and is produced by ZEPA partner Zap Art and Brighton Dome and Festival ltd. A buffet reception is organised on the Friday evening from 5.30pm, followed by Drôles d’Oiseaux, Art Blaxon, a show from ZEPA French associate company Générik Vapeur at 7.30pm, as part of the Brighton Festival programme.
