Seachange Arts were commissioned by Vivacity, (an independent, not-for-profit organization with charitable status ; they manage many of Peterborough’s most popular culture and leisure facilities on behalf of Peterborough City Council) to produce and manage the street arts aspect of their 10 days Peterborough Arts Festival.
Seachange have been working for months to identify suitable acts, schedule and then manage on the day the festival in the Central Park and in the historic market square in the town centre. Performing on both weekends, were several acts and companies associated with the ZEPA programme including Les Trois Points De Suspension, Stickleback Plasticus, Larkin About, Plunge Boom, Abi Collins, George Orange and The Insect Circus Museum.
Despite poor weather on the second weekend and a bit of quick rescheduling ; all acts performed to large crowds and appreciative audiences. Peterborough Arts Festival is redeveloping its focus to be more and more about showcasing contemporary circus and street arts and have employed Seachange Arts over the last 2 years to help them refocus the event away from solely music and bands and more to streets arts and circus. This has also led to Peterborough City Council becoming a first tier partner in the proposed ZEPA 2 programme.
